Can’t Sell Your Network Marketing Company's Products or Service?

A lot of sincere, earnest people get into network marketing with the plan of learning everything they possibly can about their company's products or service. Some of them actually becoming an expert. Unfortunately, that is a total waste of time. It may sound logical. But you cannot build a MLM business by selling product ... because you are not a salesperson. If you have to convince people to buy your product, then you are dead before you start. Even worse, you won't be able to train anyone else to sell a product. Selling just is not duplicatable.

Better to spend your time becoming expert on people, because in network marketing, people are your REAL product. Your job is to help people achieve their dreams in life. And that means you must understand them. Build trust with them. You must build a relationship. That is job #1. Devote your time to getting good at relationship-building skills. Train yourself to be a great listener, so you understand exactly what the people you talk to want. Focus on helping them get it. To achieve their goals, they will buy your products ... if YOU have built that relationship with them.

Network marketing is like anything else you do in life. If you want to achieve more than you have so far, especially in an area that is new to you, you are not going to do it in a straight line. You are going to have periods where progress is slow or non-existent. So just be aware of that and be prepared to handle the frustrations. The best way I've found to do this is to have a really, really big reason to be successful. The bigger your reason, the tougher it will be for you to give up when times get tough. So early on, you want to work on that reason and write it out and look at it and think about it every day.

Ask yourself some questions. What gets you most excited? What type of work have you done that you really loved - or hated? Is there some job you love that you'd do forever, even if you weren't getting paid for it? What do you most like to do in your free time? When everything's coming up aces, how will you change your lifestyle? How do you handle close relationships now, and are you in the best possible position to create those relationships the way you want them to be? How would you change those relationships if you had no money problems? Would you devote more time to spend with the people you love if you didn't have to commute to a job every day? When you know the answers to questions like these, you have a foundation for MLM success.

You can get more details on this information, plus a lot more in Michael Dlouhy's ebook, "Success In 10 Steps." The book has been in great demand from frustrated network marketers, having been downloaded 100,000 times now. Dlouhy especially focuses in on the idea promoted by so many companies that you should begin by recruiting friends and family. That's a recipe for disaster.

The high MLM failure rate means you'll wind up with a lot of family members upset or angry with you, and that's not good. And the fact is, you'll eventually run out of people you know and have to promote to a cold market anyway. So you may as well start there. Save your friends and family for later, after you've proven you can build a profitable business. A lot of worthwhile ideas in this book.
